Eiza González trolled for saying she’s missed out on roles for being ‘too hot’: ‘She just stinks at acting’

Eiza González was trolled by fans after saying that she was often told she was “too hot” or “too pretty” for some acting roles.

In an interview with InStyle published Monday, the “Baby Driver” actress claimed that the reason she hadn’t scored many movie roles was due to her looks.

“I remember being [told for] so many projects, ‘She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role,’” she recalled. “Then I’d just be like, ‘What is Margot Robbie? She’s the hottest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life!’”

González, 34, said that getting out of the “bombshell” box “has been single-handedly the biggest challenge of my career” due to the “sexualized idea of a Latin woman” Hollywood has.

“None of my white friends who were in the industry were getting that. It was just me,” she added.

Following her remarks, many took to social media to slam her, saying that there was possibly another reason she wasn’t booking any jobs.

“Naw she just stinks at acting,” one fan tweeted.

“Or, maybe in Hollywood she’s a dime a dozen,” another added.

“It would be interesting if she revealed which role she didn’t get because she was ‘too pretty’ to know who got the jobs- if they may be prettier than her or just better at a little thing like ACTING! Two words for her: Emma + Stone,” a third user tweeted.

“Damn, just like act better….” a fourth person said.

Amid the criticism from her interview, the “From Dusk Till Dawn” actress took to X early Wednesday morning to clarify her initial remarks.

“Taking things out of context is sad,” she tweeted. “I never said that I was too hot and didn’t get roles. I was making an observation on what a Latina stereotype has been for years in our industry and it’s slowly being dismantled and words being attached to a woman like hot to define them as if that was the only characteristic that defines them.”

González added, “As in correlation to stereotypes. It’s sad that words are being taken out of an interview and put in a complete different context.”
