‘DWTS’ pro Peta Murgatroyd is pregnant, expecting baby No. 3 with Maks Chmerkovskiy 7 months after giving birth
Peta Murgatroyd revealed the “unexpected” news that she and Maks Chmerkovskiy are expecting a baby — again.
The “Dancing With the Stars” couple made the exciting announcement on Instagram Monday, just seven months after welcoming their second son, Rio.
“We Are Having A Baby 🎉🙈🙏🏻,” Murgatroyd, 37, captioned a hilarious clip of herself attempting to break the news to Chmerkovskiy, 44, via FaceTime.
“Yes we know…we just had a baby… haha! This was very unexpected at (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!” she added.
In the video, the Australian dancer alluded to the fact she was pregnant by telling her husband she was feeling nauseous.

“Surpising [sic] @maksimc on this FaceTime with my two friends secretly filming from different angles made it all the more hilarious. It took one hour for me to get the courage to call him 😂 and when he wasn’t catching on we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the ‘I’m so sick story’ the pickle and 2 bottles HAHA! Oh Maks 🥴,” Murgatroyd wrote.
She also acknowledged the fertility struggles she and her partner have faced on their journey to becoming parents.
“After everything we’ve been through with miscarriages and IVF we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us. We’re just so happy that we can finally tell you guys the good news,” she added.
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy, who are also parents to son Shai, 7, suffered multiple miscarriages and went through one round of IVF before welcoming baby Rio.
The soon-to-be mother of three previously revealed she suffered her first pregnancy loss in a Whole Foods bathroom in 2020.
“I was sitting in the bathroom sobbing,” she recalled to People.
“That was something that will probably live with me for the rest of my life, being on that toilet by myself, knowing what was happening and not being able to stop it.”
Murgatroyd has since been candid about all aspects of her pregnancy and postpartum journey, including her sex life with Chmerkovskiy.
“That has been something that I’ve needed to work on, because [Chmerkovskiy] has told me at times, ‘I don’t feel like you’re giving me all of you right now,’” Murgatroyd told Shape magazine in 2018.
“With a toddler, you have to carve out time for your husband,” she added. “I’ve definitely had to put myself in his position.”
