Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, thinks he’s more of a catch than the 7-time Olympic champion
Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, said he is more of a catch than his Olympian wife, who is the most decorated gymnast of all time.
The Green Bay Packers player, 28, is catching heat for comments he recently made about how he “pulled” his wife, 26, during the couple’s guest appearance on the “Pivot” podcast.
Owens admitted he “didn’t know who” Biles was in 2020 when they first matched on the private dating app Raya.
“I’m like, ‘Lemme see who this is.’ I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” he said.
“The first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of [Instagram] followers. So in my mind, I’m like, ‘OK, she’s gotta be good.'”
Owens said he and Biles started “texting back and forth” before finally coming face to face three days later.
“We couldn’t do much because COVID happened and everything was shut down,” the safety, who was playing for the Houston Texans at the time, recalled.
“So, she came down to Houston. She lived in the suburbs, so she had to drive about 45 minutes. Then the rest is history.”
When the NFL star was asked whether he believed he was the “catch” in his relationship with the gymnast, he replied, “I always say that the men are the catch.”
Fans were not happy with Owens’ “embarrassing” comments about his superstar wife.
“The interview with Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens is SO embarrassing. I can’t believe she let him talk about their relationship like that 🚩🚩,” tweeted one person.

However, Owens and Biles — who went public with their romance on Instagram in August 2020 — didn’t let the backlash get to them.
On Thursday, he posted a carousel of snaps from their wedding day on Instagram alongside the caption, “Unbothered 😂❤️ Just know we locked in over here.”
The four-time gold medalist approved his statement, commenting, “🤞🏾💋 for life.”
Biles and Owens tied the knot in a courtroom ceremony in Houston in April 2023.
The couple then wed for a second time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in May in front of close friends and family.
