Earlier this month, Erbert was hospitalized after she “became disoriented and was taken to the hospital” at the end of their show in Washington, D.C., Dec. 6.

The “So You Think You Can Dance” alum underwent emergency brain surgery after doctors diagnosed her “with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, an intracranial hematoma is a collection of blood within the brain tissue or underneath the skull, which then presses on the brain.

The complication is usually caused by a blood vessel in the brain that bursts, typically as a result of a head trauma from a car accident or a fall.

While Hough did not mention what possible head trauma his wife could have sustained, the couple was involved in a “scary” car crash in the mountains last December.

At the time, Erbert said she and the six-time “Dancing With the Stars” champ — who wed in August — were “both okay” following the accident. However, she was a “little banged up” and had “a swollen face and four stitches above [her] eyebrow.”
