Britney Spears tells fans to ‘lighten up about the knives,’ claims she’s ‘copying Shakira’

Don’t hold it against her.

Britney Spears requested her concerned fans “lighten up” after she posted a video dancing with butcher knives, followed by additional footage with a bandage on her arm.

“Lighten up about the knives,” the singer captioned a video Tuesday, telling her followers she was “copying Shakira.”

The Princess of Pop, whose comparison referenced the time the 46-year-old “Hips Don’t Lie” singer performed with knives at the MTV VMAs earlier this month, danced without a knife or a visible injury in the social media upload.

Instead, Spears, 41, got her groove on in a cropped white long-sleeve, matching boots and pink bikini bottoms.

The songwriter accessorized with a black choker as she twirled around her living room.

When the “Crossroads” actress first posted the knife-dancing video on Monday, she wrote, “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today.”

Spears went on to clarify with an edited caption that the utensils were “NOT real,” explaining, “Halloween is soon.”

Twitter users, however, expressed concern, with one writing that the knives were “100 percent real” because an audible “clang” could be heard.

Many fans, however, defended Spears’ daring dance, also drawing similarities between the Grammy winner and Shakira.

“Shakira did this in front of millions yet not one person said s–t,” one social media user pointed out. “this isnt a big deal, it’s literally fake knives.”

Another added, “Look at her form in this video! She’s not going to hurt anyone.”

The controversy comes four months after TMZ founder Harvey Levin claimed in “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom” that the performer has a “fascination” with knives.

While Spears has yet to speak to his allegations, she did clap back last year when Jamie Lynn Spears accused her of brandishing a knife in her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said.”

Britney insisted in a since-deleted tweet that she’s “never been around” her “scum” sister with a knife.

“I’m actually very confused about you making that up because it’s honestly not like you at all !!!!,” the “Toxic” singer wrote in January 2022. “Jamie Lynn, seriously ??? Come on !!! Congrats on introducing your older sister the concept of getting LOW … LOWER … LOWEST … because you win on that one, babe !!!!”

Page Six reported last month Britney is currently not on “good terms” with her family as she navigates her divorce from Sam Asghari after one year of marriage.

Jamie Lynn is currently competing on Season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars,” while their mom, Lynne Spears, is reportedly working part-time as a substitute teacher.
