She’s got it in the bag.

Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin — a descendent of the Vanderbilt railroad fortune frequently known as the “Rebel Heiress” — was rescued from an elevator of her luxury East Side building via body bag by five hunky firemen, we hear, the same day she was on her way to a Guggenheim gala.

A source told us that early Friday morning the beautiful blonde singer-songwriter was headed to a rehearsal for a fashion event at the museum when she found herself trapped in her building’s elevator.

Said a pal, “feeling faint, she called 911 and said, ‘This is CV! I’m going to die! I’m in my elevator and I’m running out of oxygen… Please help me get out.”

The source said, “the fire department arrived in minutes… with five hunky firemen that brought her up, and out, of the elevator in a body bag.”

“I thought I was going to die,” Costin told pals later at the Guggenheim after the harrowing incident, we hear. The elevator in her old-school Tudor City building “only holds four people… so it’s tight and there is no ventilation,” a friend said.

Apparently when the firemen arrived on the scene, feisty Costin told them, “’I’m a gymnast… I can handstand my way out of here,’” a pal said, but the FDNY heroes “insisted on strapping her into a body bag and sliding her up to the next floor, and out.”

After the rescue, “They took her to an ambulance, checked her vitals and let her rush off to the rehearsal of her fashion show.”

Costin who was born in NYC and raised in London is also the cofounder of the creative networking site, SohoMuse.

She and Emilio Estefan co-produced the first Latin Ignition fashion show at the museum on Friday night.

Designers included Alvin Valley, Laura Garcia, Nabys Vielman and Cesar Galindo, and there was music by Los Rabanes and DJ Hex Hector.

Among the guests who were regaled with Costin’s wild tale were Jean Shafiroff, Amy Shiels and Sofie Mahlkvist.
