Iskra Lawrence feels sexiest in lingerie: ‘That’s when I build my confidence’

While trends may come and go, Iskra Lawrence knows confidence never goes out of style.

The model strutted her stuff in show-stopping lingerie looks like the lacy Daphne Push-Up Bra ($50) to open and close Adore Me’s New York Fashion Week runway show on Friday — a gig that was a perfect fit in more ways than one.

“I tried the outfit on … and it just fit perfectly,” Lawrence told Page Six Style backstage of the playful pieces, picked to reflect her “fun but also super confident” personality.

The runway’s hardly the only place Lawrence is slipping on sexy styles, either; when asked when she feels most confident and beautiful, she simply replied: “In my lingerie. I’m not going to lie.”

“I think that’s when I build my confidence,” she added. “I set the tone for the day. I look in the mirror, I give myself eye contact [and say] ‘I’m Iskra, I’ve got this. I’m enough … I’m worthy.’”

As for which pieces she prefers? While the model said everyone should own a good T-shirt bra, she also loves to embrace a more laced-up look with an “empowering, feminine” corset.

“I think corsets can be challenging, especially if you have curves; they aren’t always comfortable, and I think that Adore Me makes them super wearable but super chic,” she said. (The brand’s runway show included a selection of snatched styles, including the Laurin Satin Boned Corset, $50.)

Beyond picking out the most eye-catching lingerie, however, Lawrence’s prep for NYFW also included swiping on some sweet-smelling deodorant from her Saltair brand ($12) — “You want to smell cute,” she quipped — and her go-to Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm ($24) before hitting the makeup chair.

But while the model is now a seasoned expert when it comes to posing (and packing) for shoots and catwalks alike — having walked in multiple NYFW shows over the years — she wasn’t always so calm behind the camera.

“I remember the first time I did a lingerie shoot, [and] I was very, very nervous, but I actually saw the pictures and I was really empowered,” she recalled.

Now an industry veteran of two decades — not to mention a mom — the longtime body positivity advocate told us she’s feeling “even more confident” and standing for what she’s “always believed in, in a bigger way.”

“I can’t even tell you the difference between being 12-and-a-half [years old and] being told that you’re not enough [and] that you need to change to have any kind of success‚ and standing here 20 years later knowing that actually, I didn’t need to change,” Lawrence explained.

“I think it is a lot of women behind the scenes in the fashion industry who are just fighting for each other and have been for a really long time. And finally, their voices are being heard.”
