Danny Masterson under 24-hour surveillance behind bars to watch for mental distress: report

Danny Masterson is reportedly being closely monitored for signs of mental distress after he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women.

The “That ’70’s Show” alum is under 24-hour surveillance watch while he is behind bars in a jail, where he is awaiting to be transferred to a California State prison, TMZ reported Friday.

Officials reportedly check on him every 30 minutes to make sure he has not harmed himself and that he is “safe.”

They are also keeping track of his mental health status, per the report.

If Masterson shows any indication that he is in distress, he will be taken to a medical team for an evaluation.

It is unclear if the 47-year-old actor gave deputies any indication that he needed to be watched closely or if this is standard protocol.

Masterson’s attorneys and reps did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The “Ranch” alum was sentenced less than 24 hours ago by California Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo, who reminded him in court, “Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here.”

“Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s choice and voice. Your actions 20 years ago today were criminal, and that’s why you are here.”

Masterson was found guilty of two out of three counts of rape in May at a retrial after three women — whose identities were protected under the monikers Jane Doe No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 — came forward.

One claimed the “Men at Work” alum raped her in the winter of 2001 when she was 23; another claimed her rape took place in April 2003 when she was 28; and a third claimed her rape occurred in the fall and winter of 2003 when she was 23.

The victims, who are all former members of the Church of Scientology, were given the opportunity to give impact statements at the sentencing. Masterson is reportedly still part of the church.

Journalist Meghann Cuniff, who was present at the hearing, quoted one of women telling the actor, “You relish in hurting women. It is your addiction. It is without question your favorite thing to do.”

Masterson’s wife, Bijou Phillips, who has been married to him since 2011, was also present.

She was photographed leaving the courthouse looking downcast and glum after learning that the father of her child will spend likely the rest of his life behind bars.

A source also told the Daily Mail Thursday of the “Raising Hope” alum, 43, “Bijou is circling the drain and is filled with all the emotion and no emotion at all.

“They had their life, and it has been completely uprooted and changed. And change is as scary and miserable as one would imagine.”
