Concerned LeBron James arrives at hospital after son Bronny suffered from cardiac arrest

LeBron James was seen arriving at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on Monday after his 18-year-old son, Bronny James, suffered a cardiac arrest.

In photos exclusively obtained by Page Six, the Lakers superstar can be seen walking into the hospital wearing gray sweatshorts and a white graphic T-shirt.

The 38-year-old, wearing a baseball hat and face mask, was carrying a small circular bag and an iPad.

LeBron, who arrived to the hospital in a black SUV, held up a peace sign for photographers as he ducked into the building alongside one of his friends.

This is the first time that the NBA star has been spotted since his eldest son was rushed to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest during basketball practice at the University of Southern California on Monday.

A spokesperson for the James family told Page Six that the student-athlete has since been released to general care.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the rep’s statement began.

“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family, and we will update media when there is more information.”

The statement concluded with LeBron and his wife, Savannah James, thanking USC medical and athletic staff for their “incredible work and dedication” to ensuring athlete safety.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest occurs when the heart “malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly.” This differs from a heart attack, which happens when blood flow to the organ is blocked.

Since news of the incident, several sports superstars and celebrities have sent their well-wishes to the family.

“Prayers to Bronny & The James family as well 🙏 here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process,” Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin tweeted Tuesday, alluding to his own experience with cardiac arrest six months prior.

Meanwhile, sports analyst Stephen A. Smith told his viewers that he was “scared to death” about the situation.

“I’m just thankful, thank the good Lord, that he’s doing OK and whatever caused this is something they will identify and alleviate as soon as possible so he can restore his life,” Smith said Tuesday on “First Take.”

“If you know anything about LeBron James, you can say whatever you want, people can be critical, but nobody debates what a loving, wonderful father he is and how much he loves his children, especially Bronny,” he continued.

Bronny’s younger brother, Bryce James, also posted a photo to his Instagram Story of himself and the USC student standing side-by-side, which he captioned with a simple red heart emoji.

While it’s unclear how this cardiac arrest will affect Bronny’s ability to play basketball in the future, he is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps.

In fact, LeBron once said he would do “whatever it takes” to one day play on the same NBA team as his son, who was ranked as ESPN’s No. 20 recruit.

“My last year will be with my son. Wherever Bronny’s at, that’s where Ill be,” LeBron told the Athletic in February 2022.

“I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Bronny committed to USC in May and is an incoming freshman.
