Damar Hamlin sends prayers to Bronny James 6 months after his own cardiac arrest
NFL player Damar Hamlin sent prayers to LeBron James’ son Bronny James after the 18-year-old athlete suffered cardiac arrest Monday during a basketball workout.
“Prayers to Bronny & The James family as well. 🙏🏽 here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process,” Hamlin tweeted Tuesday, alluding to his own experience with cardiac arrest six months prior.
The Buffalo Bills safety, 25, collapsed on the football field in January after he suffered a blow to his chest at a specific point in his heartbeat, which caused the arrest.
Hamlin was released from the hospital more than 10 days after being rushed to a trauma center.

Bronny, however, remains hospitalized, though a rep for the James family confirmed to Page Six that he is no longer being treated in the intensive care unit.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the spokesperson’s statement began.
“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family, and we will update media when there is more information.”
According to the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest occurs when the heart “malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly.” This differs from a heart attack, which happens when blood flow to the organ is blocked.
Sources told TMZ Sports that someone called 911 from the University of Southern California’s Galen Center, the location of the Trojans team’s practices and games.
The patient, who was later confirmed to be Bronny, was rushed to the hospital with lights and sirens because it was a Code 3 emergency.
Bronny was expected to follow in his famed father’s footsteps into the NBA, but it’s unclear how this cardiac arrest will affect his ability to play.
He committed to USC in May.
