Robert De Niro’s late grandson Leandro’s dad grieves in heartbreaking pics
Carlos “Mare” Rodriguez was photographed grieving after news broke of his son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s death at age 19.
The graffiti artist looked emotional with his head down while standing outside of Drena De Niro’s Manhattan home on Monday.
Carlos kept his face covered in a baseball cap and black sunglasses during the 32 Morton Street outing.
Drena, Robert De Niro’s eldest child, announced her teenager’s passing in an Instagram post Sunday.
In the touching tribute to her “beautiful sweet angel,” the actress wrote that she doesn’t “know how to live without” him.
“I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama,” the 51-year-old added over the weekend. “You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you.”
She concluded by apologizing to both Carlos and Leandro.
The sculptor commented on Drena’s social media upload the following day, writing, “My dear Drena… words aren’t enough to express the joy he gave us or the loss we now endure with our families and friends. He is Godschild [sic] now. 🙏🏼
“On this full moon his spirit luminates what could not be seen in the dark,” Carlos added on Monday. “You can’t spell LOVE without LEO 👼 💔 💔.”

On his own Instagram page, Carlos simply posted a black square without a caption. His followers subsequently shared their condolences in the comments section.
He and Drena welcomed Leandro in 2003. While the teen’s cause of death has not been revealed, law enforcement reportedly told TMZ that his body was found in a New York City apartment by a friend.
Robert has yet to comment on his grandson’s passing.
Drena is the “Meet the Parents” star’s eldest of seven children. He is also the father of Raphael, 46, Aaron and Julian, 27, Elliot, 25, Helen, 11, and a baby girl named Gia.
