Lil Nas X ‘didn’t want to perform’ at Governors Ball music festival

Well, at least he’s honest.

Lil Nas X took to the stage at the Governors Ball music festival in New York’s Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Sunday, and the star told concertgoers he didn’t want to be there.

A source told Page Six that the provocative hitmaker left the stage, “for about 5 to 10 minutes,” at the beginning of the show due to technical difficulties.

After explaining the tech issues, “he said he had a bad day and just didn’t want to do it,” the source said.

Lil Nas X then performed “very begrudgingly,” and “it was a total downer,” the source added.

Other sources who attended the concert told us Lil Nas X’s dancers practically “had to carry the show” for the “Old Town Road” singer because of ongoing issues with his mic.

We’re told he was looking forward to performing at the fest, but grew frustrated on Sunday after experiencing the technical snafus.

“There were a lot of logisitcs that were off, and it all accumulated onstage when the mic wasn’t working. There were sound and technical diffiuclties for many artists,” an insider told Page Six.

The insider further claimed that Lil Nas X was having technical difficulties “from the jump,” and, “it affected him because he’s a perfectionist, and this was a first for him.”

Lil Nas X’s show, you should know, is a full production “built out with dancers, stage props, outfit changes. It’s an intricate show,” the source added.

Some Lil Nas X fans found humor in the tech glitches, with one troll tweeting a photo of the rapper’s arch-nemesis Bozzie Badazz behind a soundboard. (Badazz has previously made distressing homophobic comments about Lil Nas X on social media.)

“Investigators found the technician manning @LilNasX’s @GovBallNYC board!” the post said.

Others were more sympathetic, tweeting “thoughts and prayers,” and adding, “I hope @LilNasX has a better day tomorrow.”

The performance, however, wasn’t all doom and gloom. Many attendees were delighted that the technical situation didn’t cause him to phone it in.

Lil Nas X, “still slayed gov ball even with all the technical issues he was having,” one person tweeted.

Reps for the rapper and the festival did not comment.
