Nicole Kidman rewears dress from Chanel No. 5 commercial at Met Gala

Nicole Kidman is making new memories in a special style.

The actress brought a fashion flashback to the 2023 Met Gala red carpet, sporting the same Chanel Haute Couture gown she wore in an ad for the label’s famed No. 5 fragrance back in 2004.

The Baz Luhrman-directed clip saw Kidman running from red carpet paparazzi in the pale pink silk tulle design, which is made with 250 pink ostrich feathers and over 3,000 silver crystals, per Vogue

This time, the “Moulin Rogue” star is hardly fleeing the carpet as she posed for several loved-up photos with her husband, Keith Urban — in addition to joining Luhrman himself on the Met steps.

Her nod to Chanel is certainly on-theme for this year’s Met Gala, titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”

“I have the most indelible memories of fittings with Karl in the atelier, and I loved witnessing his dedication to his craft,” Kidman told Vogue of the look, adding that the designer also created a similarly pale pink design for one of her Oscars appearances.

“I remember his laugh when he first sketched the dress and handed me the sketch,” she continued. “He always made me laugh. He designed a number of dresses for me, but I think this is the most spectacular.”

While she opted for sleek, straight hair rather than the curls she sported in the original ad, the star added extra glamour to the look with diamond earrings and a ring by Harry Winston set in platinum — approximately 16.64 carats and 2.33 carats respectively, per a press release.

Kidman is far from the only star to be the face of the brand’s popular perfume, with ad campaigns also featuring supermodels like Lily-Rose Depp and Gisele Bündchen.

Chanel No. 5 was also a famous favorite of Marilyn Monroe, who once said the still-sold fragrance was the only thing she wore to bed.
