Michelle Yeoh’s SAG Awards 2023 dress compared to packing paper, french fries

It’s been a major year for Michelle Yeoh.

The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” actress, 60, hit the SAG Awards 2023 red carpet Sunday night wearing a black Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown with an explosion of gold sequins down the front that had many on social media scratching their heads.

“I’m here for the idea of Michelle Yeoh’s dress but the embellishment color is giving shredded office envelope,” one quipped on Twitter.

“This cascade of sequins look like the packing paper you get from companies who tryna save the environment, another joked.

Added a third, “Michelle Yeoh arrives wearing the names of the BAFTA voters, shredded.”

But Yeoh’s couture didn’t just spark comparisons to office supplies; it made other tweeters hungry.

“Love Michelle Yeoh’s french fries dress, goes well with hotdog [sic] fingers,” one wrote, bringing the culinary themes of the trippy flick full circle.

Even Shake Shack got in on the good-natured fun, Photoshopping actual fries on the front of Yeoh’s gown and tweeting, “Crinkle cuts everywhere all at once!”

Yeoh paired the straight-off-the-runway style with black Christian Louboutin pumps, a blinged-out watch and dangling yellow diamond earrings by Moussaieff, which she showed off with a swept-back ponytail and side bangs.

The Malaysian-born star is nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for her performance as verse-jumping laundromat owner Evelyn in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Yeoh gave a heartfelt acceptance speech at the Globes, saying, “As the days, the years and the numbers get bigger, it seems like opportunities start to get smaller as well. And I probably was at a time where I thought, ’Well, hey, come on, girl, you had a really, really good run. You worked with some of the best people.’”

Yeoh also won the top spot on Page Six Style’s Globes best-dressed list with her gorgeous gown, a strapless peplum style from Armani Privé completely covered in midnight blue sequins and paired with diamonds from Moussaieff Jewellers.
