Diplo or Ronald McDonald?

The music producer is the latest celebrity to wear MSCHF’s Big Red Boots, showing off the viral style at the New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden Monday night.

Diplo, 44, paired the trendy oversized shoes with a Knicks jacket and black pants while sitting courtside next to Emily Ratajkowski and boyfriend Eric André.

Diplo – real name Thomas Wesley Pentz – even twinned with NFL player Xavier McKinney in the polarizing boots.

Diplo, who’s in town for New York Fashion Week, shared an Instagram Story highlighting the duo’s cartoon-worthy footwear, remarking, “Damn, dog.”

He also posted a courtside photo with the caption, “Just an Astro boy looking for his Astro girl,” referencing the similarly styled manga series believed to be the inspiration for the boots.

In response to a video of the famed DJ at the game, one person tweeted, “Them dumb ass looking Mario boots! What is this clown s–t they be wearing?”

Another critiqued, “That’s not fashion… that’s TRASH, son, while a third wrote, “Was that the dude dressed as Elmo in Times Square? He forgot to change his feet.”

“Won’t take 20 years for people to think those boots were a mad foolish idea,” someone else tweeted in response to a video the Knicks posted of Diplo dancing in the boots.

“I kind of liked the big red cartoon boots but then i saw diplo in them,” another critic tweeted.

Others were more supportive of Diplo embracing “clowncore.”

“Diplo wore the boots the best so far because he didn’t wear all that extra s–t. Let the boots talk y’all,” one encouraged.

The Big Red Boots will be released on Feb. 16 on MSCHF’s website.

The fancy footwear will run you $350, and has already popped up on resale sites like StockX at four-figure prices.

“Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots,” the art collective explained in a press release, calling the shoes “cartoon boots for a cool 3D world.”

The silly style caused a stir on social media and has already been spotted on Janelle Monáe and Lil Wayne in addition to Diplo.
