Costume designer Patricia Field claims JFK Jr. once used trans slur in her store
“Sex and the City” costume designer Patricia Field claims she once booted John F. Kennedy Jr. from her store for mocking her transgender employees.
Field — known for hiring transgender staffers — wrote in her new memoir, “Pat in the City: My Life of Fashion, Style and Breaking All the Rules,” that the son of John F. Kennedy and Jackie O. came in once to her downtown Manhattan boutique with his then-girlfriend Daryl Hannah.
The “Devil Wears Prada” costume consultant recalled that the “girls in the shop went gaga over” Hannah because she’d played a mermaid in “Splash.”
“Drag queens love a good mermaid,” she noted.
Field claimed that the staff was “making a fuss” over Hannah and completely ignored her boyfriend, who seemingly became irked that he was not getting any attention.
“He looked around and announced, ‘Bunch of freaks,'” Field wrote. “If JFK Jr. was looking for attention with his comment, he got his wish. All the queens at the shop were more than capable of dismissing anyone who acted up.”
One employee named Codie spoke up, according to Field.
“If you don’t like it here,” she snarled at Kennedy Jr., “get the f–k out.”
“There was no room for interpretation,” Field continued. “He went to wait outside while his girlfriend got the royal treatment.”
Kennedy Jr. and the “Kill Bill” star dated on and off for five years before finally breaking up for good.
He married fashion publicist Carolyn Bessette in 1996. Three years later they both died in a plane accident when the light plane Kennedy was piloting crashed off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.
Hannah went on to marry rock legend Neil Young.
