Sam Asghari addresses Britney Spears’ family intervention plans

Sam Asghari insisted his wife, Britney Spears, is in “full control of her life” after the pop star’s family planned an intervention for her.

The actor confirmed Thursday that the “intervention did not occur,” though he notably did not deny that there had been a plan in place.

“My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances,” Asghari, 28, said in a statement to “Access Hollywood.”

He added, “Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately.”

Spears herself had denied that she was in need of an intervention, sharing on Instagram, “It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died.”

She added that she’s doing “the best she can” and that she probably has to stop posting on Instagram because “there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well !!!”

The former personal trainer’s somewhat vague clarification came after Page Six confirmed that Spears’ family and friends were in talks to stage an intervention Tuesday out of fear for her well-being.

TMZ further reported that Asghari, Spears’ manager, an interventionist and doctors wanted to convince the “Toxic” singer, 41, to seek treatment and sequester her in a Los Angeles home for two months.

But a source told Page Six exclusively that the intervention never happened because it was ultimately deemed “unnecessary.”

“Unfortunately, there is a lot of hysteria in the media right now, but Britney is fine, and much of this has been overblown and grossly distorted,” our insider shared.

Spears did have a meeting with a doctor Wednesday that reportedly “went well,” although it remains unclear if she saw a therapist or a physician.

Sources also told TMZ that there were fears for Spears’ mental health over a medication-related issue.

As concerns for the “Crossroads” actress spread like wildfire, everything appeared business as usual for her husband, who was posting content to his Instagram from his day. He documented hitting a red carpet and going to the gym for a workout. And a day before, he posted a video shopping in Target with Spears, who appeared to be in good spirits.

Concerns for Spears swirled in January when she was seen getting upset at a restaurant over fans invading her privacy and filming her.

In response, fans called the cops to perform a wellness check on Spears after she abruptly deleted her Instagram.

But police confirmed to Page Six that Spears was not in danger, adding, “We don’t really talk about any kind of mental health issues or anything like that.”

Spears then returned to social media to deny that a breakdown ever took place.

“It is what it is … nope I’m not having a breakdown … I am who I am and moving forward in my life. I have never felt better !!!”

She also slammed her fans for calling the police on her, saying that they had overreacted and that the incident made her feel “gaslit and bullied.”

“I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded,” she said.

Spears’ mental health has been under a microscope for years. Her dad, Jamie Spears, had total control over her personal and financial affairs thanks to a 13-year conservatorship that sparked the “Free Britney” movement and ended in November 2021.

Shortly after she was freed, Spears and Asghari tied the knot with a fairytale wedding in June 2022. Her two sons, Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16, did not attend the wedding.

Spears shares her kids with ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2007. She was also previously married to Jason Allen Alexander, who was notoriously arrested for crashing her wedding to Asghari, for just 55 hours in 2004.
