Jennifer Lawrence: I’ve seen men have the ‘biggest hissy fits’ on set

Jennifer Lawrence has witnessed “hissy fits” on movie sets — and they’ve all come from men.

While speaking to Danielle Deadwyler, Michelle Yeoh, Michelle Williams, Emma Corrin and Claire Foy in a Hollywood Reporter roundtable panel, the “Hunger Games” actress compared working with female directors to working with male ones.

“I’ve worked with Bryan Singer,” she said of the disgraced “X-Men” director. “I’ve seen emotional men. I’ve seen the biggest hissy fits thrown on set.”

Lawrence, 32, further described it as “incredible” to not be surrounded by toxic masculinity while on set, shutting down the notion that women can’t be in charge because they’re “so emotional.”

As she compared the two experiences, the Oscar winner said that everything flowed better on set when she worked with female directors.

“The schedule made sense,” she explained. “There were no huge fights. If an actor had a personal thing and wanted to leave early, instead of going, ‘Oh! Well, we’d all love to leave early!’ we’d put our heads together and go, ‘OK. How can we figure this out?'”

“[Lila Neugebauer’s] my third female director and they are the calmest, best decision-makers I’ve ever worked with. I absolutely love working with female directors.”

In 2019, several of his alleged victims came forward to tell their stories in an interview with the Atlantic, detailing their sexual encounters with the “Bohemian Rhapsody” director when they were underage.

Singer’s lawyer, Andrew B. Brettler, denied all allegations against him, telling the outlet that he “categorically denies ever having sex with, or a preference for, underage men.”
