Ryan Lochte and wife Kayla Rae Reid are expecting third baby together
Ryan Lochte’s wife, Kayla Rae Reid, is pregnant with the couple’s third child.
“Ryan is such an amazing, hands-on dad but you can’t be as hands-on as you’d like [when] you’re training so hard and it’s such a demanding schedule that you physically cannot do both,” Reid, 31, told “Good Morning America” on Friday.
The expectant model said she is grateful that her Olympic swimmer husband’s schedule has slowed down as they prepare to expand their family once more.
“This go-round, it’s been really nice to just be able to have him be present,” she explained.
Lochte, who failed to qualify for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, has been focused on other ventures recently.
He is set to appear on Peacock’s forthcoming competition reality series, “The Traitors,” also starring other reality stars such as Brandi Glanville, Kyle Cooke and Arie Luyendyk Jr.
“It’s been this kind of wave of relaxing, ‘Oh, my gosh, we can actually enjoy this pregnancy together, we can actually enjoy this newborn phase together,’” Reid said, acknowledging the benefit of her spouse’s career shift.
“I feel like the third kid, you have the Ph.D., you have survived parenting school,” Reid added in her “GMA” announcement.
“I always make a joke that I’m only fertile once a year,” Reid continued.
“We weren’t trying but not not trying. … We were just waiting for the timing to be right.”
For his part, Lochte shared the exciting baby news in a Friday Instagram post, accompanied by video footage of his family celebrating on the beach.
“Lochte baby #3 on the way, in June again of course!😜,” the athlete captioned the sweet clip.
Lochte and Reid — who tied the knot in 2018 — are already parents to son Caiden, 5, and daughter Liv, 3. They have yet to discover the sex of their baby, who is due in June 2023.
