Migos member Offset breaks his silence on cousin Takeoff’s ‘unbearable’ death
Offset has broken his silence on his cousin and Migos groupmate Takeoff’s death.
“The pain you have left me with is unbearable,” the “Clout” rapper, 30, wrote via Instagram Tuesday. “My heart is shattered and I have so many things to say, but I can’t find the words.”
He continued, “I’ve been going to sleep and waking up hoping that all of this is a dream, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.”
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, told fans that he wishes he could hug, laugh, smoke and perform with Takeoff “one last time.”
“I know someone with a soul like yours is in heaven now,” he wrote. “I hope you can see how much we love you and miss you. You have left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.”
Offset concluded his post by asking for “strength” and telling his late family member, “I love you forever.”
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot in the head and torso at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston on Nov. 1 around 2:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other victims were taken to nearby hospitals in private vehicles, according to Houston police. The killer remains on the loose.
Takeoff’s uncle Quavo, the third member of Migos, was present during the fatal incident, but the 31-year-old, whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall, was not injured.
A star-studded memorial service for Takeoff took place in Atlanta last Friday, with Drake giving a heartfelt speech and Justin Bieber performing a tribute.
Migos formed in 2008 and released their debut single, “Versace,” three years later.
The trio were nominated for two Grammys in 2018: Best Rap Album for “Culture” and Best Rap Performance for their single “Bad and Boujee.”
In August, Migos sparked split speculation when Quavo and Takeoff announced their duo, Unc & Phew, as Offset continued to release solo music.
Offset, who is married to Cardi B, subsequently made headlines for unfollowing his fellow members’ social media accounts.
Quavo and Takeoff addressed the breakup rumors five months later in an episode of the “Big Facts” podcast.
“We want to see our career as a duo,” Quavo told DJ Scream. “Because we came from a loyal family that’s supposed to work together.
“Sometimes when s—t don’t work out, it’s not meant to be,” he continued at the time.
Takeoff added that they didn’t “know all the answers,” concluding, “God knows. We pray a lot so only time will tell.”
