Billionaire John Paulson already ‘wants to marry’ influencer girlfriend Alina de Almeida
Hedge funder John Paulson — who is involved in a blockbuster billion-dollar split from wife Jenny — already wants to marry his much-younger girlfriend, nutrition influencer Alina de Almeida, a source tells Page Six.
We exclusively revealed last year that John and Jenny were getting divorced after 21 years of marriage, and that he had already shacked up with the dietician in his swanky Fifth Avenue apartment.
A source tells us things have gotten serious between John, 66, and de Almedia, 34, and that they could be making it official. We’re told she’s been telling pals “he wants to have a baby with her and they are definitely getting married,” says the source.
Ex Jenny was blindsided by the split. We reported that she found out that John — who’s worth at least $4.7 billion — had filed for divorce in November 2021 by reading about it in Page Six. (The notoriously private Paulson later withdrew the divorce filing so that the pair could hash out the terms of the split in private.)
“He has made it so humiliating because of his unseemly speed of taking a girlfriend and filing for a divorce so quickly after a good summer, with no advance notice or even courtesy. It’s unseemly and disrespectful that he couldn’t wait,” a source said at the time.
John and de Almedia, who offers $125 diet consultations through her company, Effective Lifestyle, have not kept their romance private, attending galas and events together, hitting the Hamptons scene and taking lavish vacations.
In July, ex Jenny sued John for $1 billion, claiming he had set up a “secretive web of trusts” to hide money from her. Two of the three trusts contain language that benefits “Paulson’s legal wife,” meaning that she would be deprived of the assets upon a split, court papers showed.
The former couple have no pre-nup and Jenny previously turned down a multi-million settlement, we reported.
There is a vast real estate portfolio at stake with a $50 million-plus Hamptons estate, a $50 million Upper East Side townhouse, and Paulson’s extensive holdings in Puerto Rico. In November, Page Six reported that the most contentious fight was over a $110 million Palm Beach, Fla., property.
Paulson famously made $20 billion shorting the US housing market before the 2008 crash.
John tells Page Six, “Unfortunately our marriage didn’t work out. Divorces are common, but difficult. Alina and I are very happy together. I wish Jenny can find happiness too.”
