Harry and Meghan’s much-anticipated Netflix doc delayed amid backlash: report

Netflix has delayed the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documentary until 2023 after the streaming service faced backlash over the upcoming season of “The Crown,” Deadline reports.

“They’re rattled at Netflix and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary,” a source told told the outlet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s docuseries did not have an official release date initially, but multiple sources told Page Six it was supposed to drop in early December, about a month after the premiere of the fifth season of “The Crown.”

Insiders told us that there were issues with the doc, as Harry and Markle made comments in it that contradict what he wrote in his upcoming memoir.

The delay comes after former UK Prime Minister John Major bashed a plotline in the first episode of Season 5 that shows King Charles III — then Prince Charles — complaining to Major about having to take over the throne.

A Netflix spokesperson told the Mail on Sunday, “Series five is a fictional dramatization, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors during a significant decade for the royal family — one that has already been scrutinized and well-documented by journalists, biographers and historians.”

But the scene could be construed as specifically disrespectful considering Queen Elizabeth II’s recent passing in September.

Major claims that the conversation never took place and described it as “malicious nonsense.”
