She’s a princess to him.

Tyler Perry shared how proud he is of close friend Meghan Markle and all that she’s overcome in a sweet message celebrating her 41st birthday.

“I’ve had a front row seat in your life for the past few years,” Perry wrote on Instagram along with a photo of the Duchess of Sussex kissing the hand of a young girl while she was on tour in South Africa in 2019. “I’ve watched you endure things that would have broken a lot of people.”

He continued, “I’m so incredibly proud to see how happy you, your husband, and your kids are now. It fills me with joy to say Happy Birthday Princess Meghan.”

Perry may have been referring to the scrutiny Markle has received from the press since joining the royal family. She revealed in 2021 that she even contemplated suicide after being the subject of tough tabloid coverage, especially in the UK.

Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, are close pals with the filmmaker and even temporarily moved into his sprawling $18 million Beverly Hills mansion after they resigned from their royal family and moved to the States during the COVID-19 lockdown.

While there, they hired Perry’s security team after a drone flew over the home.

Markle spoke about how helpful Perry was when she and Harry parted ways with the British monarchy, telling Oprah Winfrey in a sit-down interview in March 2021, “We didn’t have a plan” and that the invitation to live in Perry’s home “gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do.”

The Sussexes now reside in a $14 million estate in Montecito, Calif. with their two kids: Archie, 3, and 1-year-old Lilibet.

Perry’s sweet words come after members of the royal family wished Markle a happy birthday on Thursday, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are reportedly on the outs with her and Harry.

“Wishing a happy birthday to the Duchess of Sussex!” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote on Twitter.

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles also sent along birthday wishes to the former “Suits” star.
