‘The View’ selects Meghan McCain’s replacement: report

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as former President Donald Trump’s White House communications director, has reportedly been named Meghan McCain’s permanent replacement on “The View.”

The 33-year-old political adviser is set to start her role as the ABC daytime talk show’s conservative voice when the new season begins in September, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

In a statement to Page Six, an ABC spokesperson said, “We do not have a co-host announcement to make at this time. Stay tuned.”

Earlier this month, a source exclusively told The Post that an official announcement for “The View”‘s conservative co-host was imminent.

“You are starting to see familiar faces over and over,” the insider said on July 2. “I would expect an announcement before the season ends on August 5.”

The source added, “If you watch the show, you can see people who are coming back regularly to join the co-hosts at the table. It is an invaluable experience for the show. And it was always the plan to make sure they had a seat at the table.”

Griffin had been one of those guest co-hosts to frequent the panel and was often considered the front-runner — with former GOP communications director Tara Setmayer running close behind.

However, as the LA native made her presence more known on “The View,” her past allegiance to Trump, 76, created a lot of controversy.

Comedian Wanda Sykes reportedly canceled her appearance on the show because Griffin was set to co-host at the time.

“She didn’t want to be part of helping a Trumper launder her reputation,” a source told the Daily Beast last week.

Even “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin has called out Griffin for her past work.

During a discussion about the Jan. 6 committee hearings, the attorney pushed back on the CNN political commentator’s criticism that “so few” people had come forward to contest Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

“I know there are people like yourself and others who are coming forward now, but wasn’t the first impeachment enough?” Hostin, 53, asked.

Griffin said in her defense, “I believe people of good faith should stay in public service.”

ABC has been searching for its new conservative voice ever since McCain, 37, quit “The View” in July 2021 after four seasons.

Insiders told Page Six at the time that the political commentator, who is the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, was “miserable” doing the job.

“She’s been wanting to get out, especially since she now lives in the DC area with her family,” a source said. “She doesn’t want to come back to New York and be a part of that show. She’s been miserable since she started.”

A rep for Meghan declined to comment on reports that Griffin has filled the position.

Other women who have held the role of the primary conservative voice on “The View” include Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Candace Cameron Bure and Abby Huntsman.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Hostin, Joy Behar and Sara Haines are reportedly set to return alongside Griffin for the new season.
