‘Happy and excited’ Liza Minnelli sings on camera en route to Oscars 2022

Liza Minnelli was her usual effervescent self en route to her controversial 2022 Oscars appearance.

In a video shared by her longtime pal Michael Feinstein, the EGOT winner, 76, sits in a limo and smokes a cigarette while joyfully belting out the show tune “(It’s Gonna Be A) Great Day” by Vincent Youmans, Edward Eliscu and Billy Rose.

“Just found this on my phone. Liza on her way to the Oscars, happy and excited,” Feinstein, 65, captioned the clip on Facebook Tuesday.

The pianist previously claimed Minnelli had been “sabotaged” at the March 27 awards show by being strong-armed into using a wheelchair on stage, which prompted concerns about her health.

Feinstein said on SiriusXM’s “Jess Cagle Show” that the “Cabaret” star had only agreed to appear at the Oscars if she could sit in a director’s chair “’cause she’s been having back trouble.”

He explained that she wanted to “look good” but did not want anyone to “worry about her.” However, moments before she was set to present Best Picture with Lady Gaga, a stage manager apparently told Minnelli that she had to use a wheelchair.

Being the trooper that she is, the “New York, New York” singer agreed, but Feinstein alleged she was “so shaken that she was discombobulated.”

The Feinstein’s/54 Below partner now appears to be on the offensive, trying to prove that his friend is fine.

Last week, he posted a photo of Minnelli smiling broadly at a dinner with Joan Collins.

“Had a lovely time last night with these two ladies,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the trio sitting together at a restaurant.

Minnelli’s former publicist Scott Gorenstein previously told The Post it was public knowledge that she had experienced “some health problems” prior to her appearance at the Oscars, adding, “The past couple of years have allowed her to relax and enjoy another phase of her life.”
