Kate Middleton honors Jamaica in yellow Roksanda dress and special bangle
Kate Middleton is channeling the Jamaican spirit with her fabulous tour fashion.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge departed Belize Tuesday afternoon for Jamaica, with the duchess, 40, turning heads in a sunny dress in one of the colors of the country’s flag.
The custom-made Roksanda yellow frock appears to be a version of the designer’s sleeveless “Brigitte” dress ($1,525) with the addition of a short sleeve, and it certainly made an impression as the royals were greeted at the airport.
With its twirly skirt, soft draping and bow detail at the shoulder, this diplomatic look gave off old Hollywood glamour as she and Prince William met with Jamaica’s Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen at the aptly named King’s House.
Middleton paired her bright dress with Aquazurra’s white-and-gold “Cece” heels ($875) and a pair of sold-out mother-of-pearl earrings from Sézane, the same French retailer she chose for her colorful blue earrings in Belize.
She gave another nod to Jamaica with her jewelry, wearing a handmade gold bangle bracelet by local designer Inzzpire365 ($64).
Creative Director Lashawndla Bailey-Miller told Page Six Style that while she prepared two bracelets for the Middleton, the royal’s choice came as a surprise.
“I had no idea it was actually selected as a final gift until I started receiving messages on Instagram,” Bailey-Miller said, adding that while the design Middleton wore doesn’t have engraving, another special version also exists.
“A second one was also prepared for her with the words ‘She is Royal’ which is the title of a song by our local Reggae artist Taurus Riley,” the creative director said.
Middleton showed her affection for the Caribbean country with a second stunning style later Tuesday when she wore a vintage 1950s dress featuring black and yellow from the country’s flag.
The Cambridges toured the famous Trench Town neighborhood — even getting into the Reggae spirit with a drum-playing session — with the Middleton sporting a colorful $486 striped dress from British boutique Willow Hill Vintage.
It appears Middleton had her tailor make some adjustments to change the spaghetti straps to create a thicker, square neckline on the 1950s style, which was reminiscent of silhouettes the Queen wore during her younger days.
Accessorizing with the same Maria Black pearl earrings she wore in Denmark earlier this year and a pair of raffia Russell and Bromley “Impulse” slingback heels ($257), the Middleton cheered as Prince William, 39, joined in a football match and later smiled for a selfie with the Jamaican bobsleigh team.
The royal was certainly in a throwback fashion mood Tuesday, as she sported a bright orange-red jacket earlier in the afternoon that turned out to be vintage in more ways than one.
As the royal couple departed Belize, the duchess showed off a belted shirt-jacket style — a vintage piece from Yves Saint Laurent — that she bought way back during her University of St. Andrews days, as revealed by royal reporter Richard Palmer.
Pairing her jacket with sold-out shell earrings from Anthropologie, wide-legged white trousers and sky-high “Cece” heels from Aquazurra, the royal, 40, carried a previously-worn white Mulberry bag as she and Prince William, 39, were greeted in Jamaica.
Hold on to your sun hats, royal fans because day two in Jamaica is sure to bring some more colorful royal fashion.
