Alec Baldwin posted a cryptic Buddha quote about lies Thursday, one week after “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him.

“‘In the same way, Rahula,’ the Buddha continued, ‘when anyone feels no shame in telling a deliberate lie, there is no evil, I tell you, they will not do. Thus, Rahula, you should train yourself, “I will not tell a deliberate lie, even in jest,”‘” Baldwin, 63, wrote on his private Twitter account.

The “30 Rock” alum explained the meaning behind the spiritual quote in a second tweet about an hour later.

“In Buddhism, being truthful goes beyond simply not telling lies. It means speaking truthfully and honestly, yes. But it also means using speech to benefit others and not to use it to benefit only ourselves,” he wrote.

While some fans posted supportive messages for the actor, others ripped into him, blaming him for the movie-set shooting that killed Hutchins in October 2021.

Hutchins was killed on the “Rust” set by a live round in a gun used by Baldwin.

“Peace be with you Alec. Everyone knows you did no wrong. 🙌,” one person commented on Instagram, where Baldwin shared screenshots of his Buddha tweets.

“Using the teachings in a passive aggressive way?” another questioned.

“Accountability. Taking ownership; cleanly, and responsibly. Not leaving anything out,” a third person wrote.

Baldwin was hit with the wrongful death suit on Feb. 15, the same day lawyers for the Hutchins family released a chilling video re-enacting the tragic shooting.

“There are many people culpable, but Mr. Baldwin was the person holding the weapon … that but for him shooting, she would not have died,” one of the attorneys, Brian Panish, said at a press conference in Los Angeles.

Panish added, “[Baldwin] has significant portion liability, but there are others, and that’s what this case is going to be about — assessing fair apportionment to whoever’s responsible for the senseless tragedy.”

Halyna’s husband, Matt Hutchins, believes Baldwin is at least partially to blame for her death.

During a controversial TV interview in December, Baldwin insisted that he was not to blame for Hutchins’ death despite being the one whose prop gun shot the bullet that killed her and also injured director Joel Souza.

“There’s only one question that needs to be resolved, just one: Where did the live round come from?” Baldwin asked ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos at the time.

“Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A live bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property. Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me,” he added.

Hutchins’ husband, Matt Hutchins, said on “Today” earlier this week that he was “just so angry” watching Baldwin’s interview with Stephanopoulos, leading him to file the suit on behalf of himself and the couple’s 9-year-old son, Andros.

“The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me,” Matt said.
