Kate Middleton honors Denmark with earrings by Copenhagen designer

There’s something fabulous in Denmark today.

Kate Middleton is in the Scandinavian country this week to meet with Queen Margrethe II and Crown Princess Mary on behalf of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, and she chose some diplomatic dressing to kick off day one of her visit.

We often see the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, honoring her host country by wearing a local designer or culturally significant colors, so it comes as no surprise that she chose a pair of earrings from Copenhagen-based designer Maria Black.

Kate wore the jeweler’s “Cha Cha” earrings ($366 for two) featuring chunky yellow gold-plated hoops with pearl drops.

She added a coordinating style from favorite brand Monica Vinader, wearing the designer’s vintage chain pearl necklace ($390).

Kate even matched the Danish flag by donning the bright red Zara blazer she wore during the Euro finals last summer, paired with a white ruffled blouse by Me + Em.

Repeating a pair of black wide-legged trousers by Roland Mouret, she also re-wore her Gianvito Rossi “Piper 85” pumps ($695) and carried one of her favorite bags: the Aspinal of London “Midi Mayfair” bag in black patent croc ($850).

The duchess is on her first solo working visit since the pandemic, and kicked off the trip by stopping by the University of Copenhagen’s Centre for Early Intervention and Family Studies.

Later, after visiting a children’s museum, she flew down a slide at the Lego Foundation PlayLab in Copenhagen, in a hilarious video shared by Hello! reporter Emily Nash on Twitter.

According to Kensington Palace, Kate planned the trip to learn how the country, which is a world leader in the field of childhood development, “harnesses the power of nature, relationships and playful learning in the first five years of life.”
