Camilla Parker Bowles ‘honored’ to take on future ‘Queen Consort’ title

Camilla Parker Bowles said she is “honored” that the Queen will allow her to take on the title of “Queen Consort” once her husband, Prince Charles, becomes king.

“I feel very, very honored and very touched,” the Duchess of Cornwall, 74, said during an appearance at community kitchen Nourish Hub when asked of her thoughts on the special title granted by the Queen, according to People.

Queen Elizabeth II made the shocking announcement that her son’s second wife would be getting the “Queen Consort” title in a letter written from Sandringham House, the palace where she hosted a reception ahead of the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne over the weekend.

“I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection you continue to give me,” the 95-year-old monarch wrote in the letter to her subjects. “And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”

Camilla and the Prince of Wales, 73, tied the knot in 2005. Their wedding came nine years after his divorce from Princess Diana, who died a year later in 1997 at the age of 36.

Camilla was widely disliked while she was having an affair with Charles during his marriage to the enormously popular Diana, but Camilla has gained popularity in recent years.

After marrying Charles, Camilla never took the Princess of Wales title but had said that she “intended” to serve as “Princess Consort” when Charles took the throne.

Queen Elizabeth is the UK’s longest-reigning monarch and has recently raised health concerns when she was hospitalized overnight for testing. She also started using a cane in October 2021.
