The sister of Nicole Brown Simpson thinks Kim Kardashian’s “Saturday Night Live” jokes about her sibling’s murder were “distasteful.”
Tanya Brown, 50, told TMZ she thought that Kardashians’ remarks about Nicole’s case in her “SNL” monologue last weekend were in “poor taste.”
She also questioned if the Kardashians ever cared about her sister at all, according to the outlet.
Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, and Nicole were close friends. When O.J. Simpson, 74, was on trial for his late wife’s murder, Jenner, 65, sat on the side of the Brown family, while her ex-husband, attorney Robert Kardashian, was on O.J.’s defense team.
The Kardashians have often said publicly that the case drove a wedge between their parents at the time.
However, on Saturday, Kim, 40, made light of what was once a very heavy situation for all involved.
During her opening monologue, she joked, “It’s because of [my father] that I met my first black person. Want to take a stab in the dark at who it was?”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashian” star then added, “I know it’s sort of weird to remember the first black person you met, but O.J. does leave a mark or several or none at all. I still don’t know.”
Nicole was killed in her Los Angeles home on June 12, 1994. The autopsy showed she had several stab wounds.
O.J. was put on trial because there was a lot of circumstantial and physical evidence that linked him to his ex-wife’s murder, but he was acquitted of all charges on Oct. 3, 1995.
Despite Tanya deeming the Kim’s jokes as “beyond inappropriate and insensitive,” much of the public enjoyed the dark humor.
The KKW Beauty CEO received rave reviews for her “SNL” debut and many credited her for her “fearless” monologue.
However, others sided with Tanya, including author Don Winslow, who tweeted, “Can the press who praised Kim Kardashian’s SNL monologue which made multiple jokes about Nicole Brown’s repeated beatings by OJ Simpson and her horrific and violent death (she joked about both) take a minute and post photos of Nicole’s repeated injuries? It’s not f–king funny.”
His comment received more than 2,000 “likes.”
Reps for Kim and Jenner did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
