Yvette Nicole Brown says Matthew McConaughey ‘smells like granola’

Another anecdote for the celebrity hygiene discourse.

Yvette Nicole Brown took a big whiff of Matthew McConaughey when they worked together on the 2008 movie “Tropic Thunder” — and she liked what she smelled.

As a self-described “huge” fan of McConaughey, the “Community” alum, 49, admitted in a new interview that she knew she had to sniff the Oscar-winning actor, 51, after he told People in 2005 that he hadn’t “worn deodorant in 20 years.”

“My first thought was, ‘I’m going to get as close as I can to him to see if he’s right [about being naturally odorless],'” Brown recalled on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show” Wednesday.

Much to her delight, the “Dazed and Confused” star did not stink at all.

“He smells like granola and good living. He has a sweet, sweet scent,” the actress said. “That is just him, and it’s not musty or crazy.”

Brown was much more forgiving of McConaughey’s au naturel ways than his “Fool’s Gold” co-star Kate Hudson, who tried to persuade him to at least use a salt rock on his armpits.

“[Kate] says, ‘Would you please put this on?’ I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant,” the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor told Playboy in 2008. “The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, ‘Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man, and, two, smells like you.”

Brown, for her part, is all but sure that McConaughey bathes himself — unlike other celebrities and their children who’ve made noses curl over the past month.

“I believe he bathes because he smelled delicious,” she said Wednesday. “He just didn’t have deodorant on.”

Brown then echoed Cardi B’s thoughts on the matter, saying, “Those that don’t bathe, I don’t understand. I got to get under some water and rub some soap on me.”
