Nile Rodgers hosts star-studded roller disco at LA botanic garden

Nile Rodgers had VIPs like Jason Mraz boogying on skates at The DiscOasis — an outdoor “music-driven interactive theatre” that he curated at the South Coast Botanic Garden in LA on Wednesday.

Jimmy Iovine and Liberty Ross co-hosted the event and DJ Cassidy spun tunes. Madonna was listed on the invite as a co-host, but the Material Girl did not attend the party. An impersonator, however, struck a pose and performed the pop star’s ’80s classic “Like A Virgin.”

“It was amazing! They didn’t let you in unless you were already dancing and clapping,” one partygoer told us, nodding to lyrics from the Chic groove-maker’s hit “Everybody Dance.”

The garden featured a giant roller-rink, where guests could skate and dance along with professional rollerbladers and performers in ’70s disco garb. It also featured a retro arcade, curated food trucks, and a “bloom box dance floor.”

“The DiscOasis is a dream come true… People know and love to dance to my songs; what they may not know is that I’ve been a skater all my life and I love to roller disco,” Rodgers said in a statement.

Rodgers, 68, said he wanted to create the same spirit he remembered from “the first time I ever walked into a disco and saw people from every walk of life put their troubles, prejudices and differences aside in the name of love and dance.”

Adam Lambert, Allen Hughes, Shaun Ross, Kat Graham, Jeremy Scott, Bruce Bozzi, Dita von Teese and will.i.am were some of the celebs who popped by.

The interactive experience benefits Rodger’s We Are Family Foundation. Hip-hop pioneer DJ Grandmaster Flash will headline a DJ Sunset Series for DiscOasis on Aug. 1.
