Adele and rumored boyfriend Rich Paul may have been “hanging out” far longer than fans realized.
Paul, a sports agent whose clients include LeBron James, divulged in a New Yorker profile earlier this summer that he’s been “hanging out” with a female pop star.
“She was over yesterday,” Paul, unprompted, told his interviewer in the piece, which was published online on May 31.
Paul told the interviewer the name of the “major pop star,” but the writer did not include it in the piece.
“Doing what?” the interviewer asked.
“Hanging out,” Paul replied.
“Why are you hanging out?” he retorted.
“Why not?” Paul replied.
Following the quizzical exchange, Paul added, “I’m not dating, I’m single. Put that in the story.”
Perhaps his and Adele’s relationship status has changed since the interview was first conducted, as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst referred to the “Rolling in the Deep” singer as Paul’s girlfriend when they sat together at Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday.
“Rich Paul, [LeBron James’] agent, brings his girlfriend to the game sitting next to LeBron. His girlfriend is Adele,” Windhorst said on his “The Lowe Post” podcast. “Rich Paul is at the game with Adele.”
“This is the first time they’ve come out in public together,” Windhorst added on the podcast, “so this will be all over the tabloids, especially in England tomorrow.”
Reps for Adele and Paul didn’t return Page Six’s request for comment.
Adele, 33, and Paul were photographed chatting, laughing and watching the game, which resulted in the Milwaukee Bucks beating the Phoenix Suns 123-119.
The Grammy-winning singer was last rumored to be dating British rapper Skepta.
