Stars are still wrapped up in the sexy scarf top trend

The scarf top trend isn’t over, but it is coming to a halter.

While they haven’t completely cut ties with the bandanas-as-shirts trend that took off last summer, many stars are putting a skin-baring twist on the sexy style.

Kylie Jenner was one of the first to heat things up with underboob-baring bra-tops, trading her shirt for a crisscrossed scarf on vacation this spring.

The wraparound style, originally part of a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier gown, seemingly paid homage to Christina Aguilera’s famed early-aughts look.

Xtina’s “X”-shaped style, paired with itty-bitty low-rise denim for an infamous VMAs red carpet appearance, first introduced us to the infinite possibilities of the infinity scarf back in 2002.

Jenner isn’t the only celebrity still wrapped up in the skimpy style today, as Amelia Hamlin gave a similarly striped, more full-coverage version a tie in June.

And no skin-baring trend would be complete without Emily Ratajkowski rocking a spin on the style. During her fashion-filled birthday trip this June, the star slipped into a Kim Shui green swirl wrap dress ($295), featuring the scarf’s same “X” neckline, minus the risk of an X-rated wardrobe malfunction.

Jenner’s bestie Stassie Karanikolaou seemed to be taking the style cue too, donning a paisley version ($295) of the same dress days later.

Chantel Jeffries, meanwhile, has been sporting more spot-on recreations of Aguilera’s top, trading in her go-to bandana shirts for the boob sling style. She’s been rocking the look, whether on the street or the shore, wearing a Revolve silk scarf on the beach before striking a pose in Fashion Nova’s white shirt and maxi skirt set ($34) this month.

Most recently, Bella Hadid gave the “Dirrty”-era style a high-fashion makeover at this year’s Cannes Film Festival; Her vintage Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress featured the same wraparound neckline as the trendy tops, albeit made of black tulle rather than bold, beachy prints.

An alternative to the skin-baring pelvic cutouts celebrities have also been favoring, a tightly-tied scarf might be the key to showing more skin in unexpected places.

With so many ways to style, it’s not a wrap on this trend just yet.
