Ilana Glazer is pregnant, expecting first child with husband David Rooklin

Congratulations are in order for Ilana Glazer and her husband David Rooklin.

The “Broad City” star announced she’s expecting her first child while promoting her upcoming horror film “False Positive,” which follows a woman and her partner undergoing nightmarish IVF treatments.

“This was not supposed to happen this way, but it’s just so eerie and cosmically funny that it has,” the 33-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.

She added, “I’m lucky; I’m in control, unlike our protagonist. I don’t feel like I’m having the rug pulled out from under me in any way.”

Glazer and Rooklin, a scientist, first met in 2012 and quietly tied the knot at City Hall in 2017. This is the first child for both of them, but fortunately the couple have plenty of friends to help ease them into parenthood.

“I’m not afraid to ask a billion questions,” she told EW. “There are certain trends in society of how pregnancy should look — the ‘shoulda coulda wouldas’ that are put on women all the time but are so amplified in pregnancy. I’m specifically seeking out the most spiritually healthy and welcoming experience.”

While the actress chose not to reveal how far along she is, she added just how much she misses “sharing [my pregnancy] through stand-up” since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Glazer also made a political connection to the new film, explaining, “The process of birth is so traumatic and painful, and yet it’s the most miraculous, surreal, real thing. It’s like this perfect canvas for the paradox that is our country.”

“False Positive,” which also stars Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan, comes out on Hulu on June 25.
