Halsey’s pregnancy may have been a surprise to her fans, but it wasn’t to her.
The 26-year-old singer says her pregnancy was “100% planned.”
“I tried very hard for this [baby,]” she wrote on her Instagram Story on Monday. “But I would be just as happy even if it were another way.”
She also sent a pointed message to those speculating about the details of her pregnancy, writing: “Why is it ok to speculate and pass judgment about fertility and conception?”
Halsey announced in January that she was pregnant and expecting her first child but didn’t reveal the identity of the child’s father.
Fans speculated that Halsey could be having the baby with Alev Aydin after the screenwriter reposted a picture of Halsey’s pregnancy photoshoot with two red heart emojis on his Instagram Story. They also got matching tattoos with prior to her baby reveal.
Her rep declined to comment.
Halsey was previously linked to Yungblud and “American Horror Story” star Evan Peters. She also dated rapper G-Eazy on and off until 2018.
Halsey’s pregnancy news comes nearly five years after sharing in 2016 that that she suffered a miscarriage.
The star has also been open about her struggles with endometriosis, and said in 2018 that she was freezing her eggs because, “I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility, about protecting myself.”
