Famous pals lobby for Toots Hibbert’s place in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Pals of reggae legend Toots Hibbert — who died from COVID-19 in September — are waging a last-minute campaign to have him inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Page Six is told that Zak Starkey — the Trojan Jamaica founder and son of Ringo Starr — and reggae producer Native Wayne Jobson are among the friends and collaborators behind the push.

They’ve set up an online petition which they hope will convince the Hall of Fame to accept Hibbert and his band, Toots and the Maytals.

The page makes the case that Toots “stands among the giants” who have already been inducted like Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Solomon Burke, Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke, and points out that rock greats including Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, Gwen Stefani, Willie Nelson and Ringo all worked with him.

He died in Kingston, Jamaica, at 77.
