Kathy Griffin reposts controversial shot with severed Trump head

Kathy Griffin is doubling down on the 2017 image of herself holding the bloody, decapitated head of an effigy of Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, her 60th birthday, the comic reposted the controversial image on Twitter. The original picture sparked an uproar, and she was fired from her CNN gig co-hosting the network’s New Year’s Eve special with Anderson Cooper, who called the gruesome image “disgusting and completely inappropriate.”

In 2019, Griffin reflected on the fallout from the photoshoot: “I was on the no-fly list for two months, I was interrogated under oath … [Federal investigators] were considering very seriously charging me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States.”
