Sam Smith’s found someone new to “latch” onto.

The British singer, 28, was snapped in North London strolling with a new man, French-born British furniture designer Francois Rocci. Smith and Rocci — who graduated from London’s prestigious Royal College of Art with an MA in 2018 — look positively enamored with each other and were caught in various stages of embrace as they walked, eventually pausing for an outdoor pint at a pub.

Smith — who started using “they” and “them” pronouns in September — appears to be in a better place than the last time we heard from the “I’m Ready” singer, who seemed in April to be going a little stir-crazy while in coronavirus lockdown, titling an Instagram post “stages of quarantine meltdown.”

“This is a weird time. I wanted to reach out to every one of you right now, and send my love,” Smith wrote on Instagram from their London pad. “I really really hope you’re okay and I hope you’re mentally alright.” In an interview with Zane Lowe from April, Smith added they were fairly certain they’d weathered a bout with coronavirus, along with their sister, just as the UK was beginning its lockdown.

Smith’s latest is a collaboration with Nigerian singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage called “Temptation.”
