Eliot Spitzer one step closer to tying the knot with fianceé Roxana Girand

Eliot Spitzer and fianceé Roxana Girand are one step closer to tying the knot, The Post has learned.

The lovebirds on Monday picked up their marriage license at the city clerk’s office, where the former “Luv Guv” cracked a joke about how his divorce from first wife Silda Wall made the pages of The Post, a source said.

“They were talking with the woman behind the counter, who said to them, ‘you can verify your divorce dates,'” the source said.

“[Spitzer] said: ‘it was in 2014. It was in the New York Post.'”

“The woman behind the counter, just did not get it at all,” the source added.

Spitzer, 60, who was dressed in a suit and blue tie, appeared in “good spirits,” the tipster added.

Meanwhile, Girand, 48, the founder and president of real estate agency Sebastian Capital, kept it casual in a black shirt, matching puffer coat and gold sunglasses.

The pair, who have been engaged since at least September, flew under the radar at the marriage bureau, as they shelled out the $35 for their licence.

“It didn’t seem like too many people, or anyone other than me, noticed that it was him,” the source said.

Spitzer’s spokeswoman, Lisa Linden, confirmed the couple visited the clerk’s office to “pick up a marriage license for their future nuptials.” They’ll have 60 days to walk down the aisle from the day their license is issued.

In the early stages of their relationship, a source told Page Six that “[Spitzer and Girand] both love real estate, and they both love New York.”

The former New York governor’s marriage to Silda, his wife of 26 years, was torpedoed in part by the prostitution scandal that forced him to resign in 2008. Girand is also divorced.

Spitzer’s divorce came after The Post exclusively revealed his affair with Democratic political consultant Lis Smith, who at the time was a spokeswoman for Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio.

Their relationship went kaput once Spitzer told her he was being extorted by former Russian escort Svetlana Travis Zakharova.

More recently, Smith was the senior adviser for ex-South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.
