David Geffen is going on a spending spree after selling his swanky Beverly Hills mansion to Jeff Bezos for a cool $165 million.
According to Bloomberg, the entertainment mogul was the mystery buyer of David Hockney’s iconic painting “The Splash” at Sotheby’s in London this week — and he paid $30 million.
Geffen previously owned the work — which depicts a California swimming pool and diving board with a splash coming out of the water — but sold it in 1985. It was last sold in 2006 for about $5.4 million.
Geffen’s sale of his home broke a record for the priciest residential purchase in Los Angeles. He paid a mere $47.5 million for it back in 1990. Reps for Geffen didn’t get back to us.
