“Ultimately I just want everyone to have a zen, fun time,” Kacey Musgraves told the crowd at the launch of her new scented candle on Wednesday night.
Dubbed “Slow Burn,” after her song of the same name, the $39 votive was created in collaboration with Boy Smells. The project began, the 31-year-old Grammy winner revealed, when she slid into the brand’s Instagram DMs after falling in love with its bestselling “Kush” fragrance ($32); a cannabis enthusiast, Musgraves has written marijuana into many a lyric.
“This was seriously just about [translating] the emotion, where I was mentally writing the song, into the form of a scent,” she told the room, dressed in a plunging sunset-hued satin pantsuit.
“I was sitting on my front porch in Nashville in the middle of summer a couple years ago, and remember the faint smell of a fire burning somewhere in the distance, drifting by. And getting two seconds to just take a beat, take a breathe and find a moment of zen in the chaos of the last couple crazy years.”
It seems the singer’s sentiment (scentiment?) hit home for many; after dropping early Thursday morning, “Slow Burn” sold out on both her website and Boy Smells’ within hours.

After the celebration wound down at Public Arts, the “Butterflies” songstress headed out into the night hand in hand with husband Ruston Kelly, proving that any candle needs a perfect match.
