Police investigating bottle throwing incident at Wiz Khalifa show

PARK CITY, Utah — Hotspot Park City Live was shut down early Saturday morning during Wiz Khalifa’s performance after an attendee threw a bottle at a police officer, Page Six can exclusively reveal.

The officer involved was Chief of Police Wade Carpenter, a second source exclusively confirms to Page Six.

We’re told the “Black and Yellow” rapper, 32, was smoking what appeared to be marijuana on stage when Carpenter asked him to put it out. Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, refused.

In response to the police-rapper dust up, a concertgoer threw a bottle and injured the police chief. A Park City Live employee confirmed to Page Six that the venue was shut down around 1 a.m. following the incident.

“Officers from the PCPD were conducting compliance checks on Main Street Friday night January 24, 2020, and found multiple code violations at PC Live. Despite warnings, the music venue was eventually shut down,” a spokesman for the Park City Police Department told Page Six on Sunday. “A PCPD officer was struck in the head by a thrown object. Luckily, his injury did not require medical attention but did result in a small laceration.”

The incident remains under investigation.

We’re told Wiz fled the scene, which he joked about on Twitter hours later.

“I had to run from the cops last night. Good thing I remembered my training #taylorgang,” he tweeted, using a blushing emoji.

“Homie wit tha badge can succ (sic) it easy,” he added. “He ruined it for everybody.”

Park City Live reopened Saturday night for a Chainsmokers show. The duo, which includes Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, were spotted in the VIP section at Tao Park City early Sunday morning following their performance.

A rep for Park City Live had no comment.
