Secret Service ‘aware’ of George Lopez’s joke about killing Trump

Comedian George Lopez is on the Secret Service’s radar after he reportedly joked that he’d kill President Donald Trump.

The Secret Service said that it is “aware” of a remark Lopez made responding to an erroneous report on Instagram that Iran had offered an $80 million bounty on Trump, news station WCNC reported.

Responding to the bogus claim, the “El Chicano” actor had commented, “We’ll do it for half.”

The agency confirmed that it was notified about the remark, but declined to provide further details.

“The Secret Service is aware of the [post] made by Mr. Lopez,” the agency said in an email, according to WCNC. “The Secret Service takes all threats against the President and or any of our protectees seriously, and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence.”

Lopez has received backlash on social media under the hashtag #ArrestGeorgeLopez — but a spokesperson for the comedian said his comment was “really a joke,” NBC News reported.
