Joey King bruised after Patricia Arquette hits her with Golden Globe trophy

Joey King didn’t win an award at the Golden Globes Sunday night, but she still wound up getting one — right in the face.

The actress, 20, was accidentally smashed in the forehead by the statuette wielded by her co-star on “The Act,” Patricia Arquette, who had won it for best supporting actress in the Hulu miniseries.

After the mishap, King tweeted out a photo of herself in diamond earrings and a fancy hair-do, and sporting a massive bruise.

“Patricia Arquette accidentally hit me in the head with her Golden Globe,” King tweeted. “That sentence will give me bragging rights for the rest of my life. @PattyArquette.”

The accident happened during a video shoot in an elevator for InStyle. At one point Arquette, who was wearing a viking-style helmet, lifted the Golden Globe just as King lowered her head and, boom, the injury occurred, People reported.

The trophies can pack a punch. Starting last year, the nearly foot-tall trophies, which cost about $800 a piece to manufacture, were made slightly larger and heavier. Each now weighs 7.8 pounds.

Arquette, 51, who won for her role as Dee Dee Blanchard in the true-crime series, cheekily responded to King’s tweet.

“What happens in the elevator stays in the elevator! No seriously I’m so sorry sweetest one!” she tweeted.

King seemed to be taking the whole thing pretty well, considering the battering came after she suffered the blow of losing in her own category, best lead actress in a miniseries or TV movie.
