George Lopez under fire for joking about killing Trump

Comedian George Lopez drew harsh backlash online Monday after joking in a message on Instagram that he’d kill President Donald Trump.

The “El Chicano” actor made the statement while responding to an erroneous Instagram post that said Iran had offered an $80 million bounty on Trump after a US drone strike killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

“We’ll do it for half,” Lopez commented on the post.

The quip touched off a flurry of criticism from conservatives on Twitter, who accused Lopez of making a death threat against the president.

“George Lopez, lowlife,’ tweeted conservative radio host Mark Levin.

“It’s time for Secret Service to pay George Lopez a visit!” internet personalities Diamond and Silk added in another tweet.

Lopez, a Mexican-American, has been critic of Trump’s immigration policies and the president promise to “build a wall” along the southern border with Mexico.

Soleimani, a top Iranian general and leader of the Quds Force, was killed last Friday in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport.

Iran has vowed revenge for his killing.
