Surprise! Cameron Diaz and husband Benji Madden are parents.
The actress, 47, announced on Instagram on Friday that she and Madden, 40, recently welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Raddix Madden.
“Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden,” read the post. “She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
Diaz and the Good Charlotte rocker then informed their followers they wouldn’t be sharing any photos of their daughter to maintain her privacy.
“While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy,” the statement continued. “So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would say RAD :).”
The couple married in January 2015, less than a month after news of their engagement broke.
In a rare interview over the summer, Diaz gushed about her husband but admitted marriage is difficult.
“My husband’s the best. He’s the greatest human being, and he’s my great partner,” she told InStyle. “Marriage is certainly hard, and it’s a lot of work. You need somebody who’s willing to do the work with you, because there’s no 60-40 in marriage. It’s 50-50, period. All the time.”
