Miley Cyrus is back to short hair.
The “Slide Away” singer celebrated her 27th birthday with a makeover.
Cyrus got a big chop from famed hairstylist Sally Hershberger — known for perfecting the shag look — and showed off her new “punk” haircut on Instagram. “Miley wanted to go more punk. She wanted something edgy,” the Hershberger told E! News about the new shaggy haircut. “We went with a modern mullet that she can wear sleek, but also wavy and messy.”
Before heading to Hershberger, Miley first posted a video to her Instagram Stories on Saturday showing mom Tish Cyrus chopping inches off of the bottom of her blond hair. Though the pop star posted photos from her birthday celebrations — which included boyfriend Cody Simpson — fans never got a close-up look at Tish’s handiwork before the modern mullet was revealed.
Lisa Rinna appears to be a fan of Cyrus’ latest mid-length ‘do. “YESSSSSSS,” she commented on Hershberger’s Instagram photo.
