Ron Perelman’s domestic worker arrested in DWI crash that killed bicyclist

A house worker for billionaire investor Ron Perelman has been arrested for killing a bicyclist in a drunken Montauk crash, The Post has learned.

Lisa Rooney, 30 — who sources say was one of nearly a hundred staffers at Perelman’s sprawling East Hampton estate — was busted on a charge of driving while intoxicated following the deadly Wednesday evening incident.

The East Hampton Town Police Department says Rooney was driving her 2019 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Flamingo Avenue near Falcon Place around 6 p.m. when she struck 28-year-old Montauk resident John James Usma-Quintero, who was riding his bicycle in the same direction.

He was pronounced dead at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, authorities said.

Rooney, a Montauk resident whose mother is Queens Criminal Court Judge Bruna DiBiase, was released after she posted $1,000 bail at her arraignment Thursday at East Hampton Town Justice Court.

The prosecution wanted Rooney’s bail to be set at $100,000 cash and $50,000 bond.

During the arraignment, Judge Lisa Rana revoked Rooney’s driving privileges and warned that the charges could be upgraded.

“There’s a very serious chance this will be upgraded to a felony,” Rana told Rooney.

Rooney’s next court date was scheduled for Nov. 21.

She could not immediately be reached for comment.

Rooney, who in 2015 opened up a women’s clothing boutique in Montauk called Girltauk with her sister, Cara, worked for Perelman, a 76-year-old wealthy businessman and philanthropist, for just a few months, according to sources.

It was not clear exactly what type of work Rooney did for him.

Perelman spokesman Josh Vlasto told The Post on Thursday that Rooney was fired from Perelman’s staff after the crash and will no longer be allowed on the financier’s property.

According to Forbes, Perelman has a net worth of $8.2 billion.

Meanwhile, the East Hampton police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the fatal crash or anyone who has information about it to come forward.
