Mac Miller’s mom asks his friends to steer clear of unauthorized biography

Karen Meyers, the mother of late rapper Mac Miller, is imploring those who knew him to refrain from participating in an unofficial biography being written about the wordsmith.

Meyers took to Instagram to log her request, letting the public know that the upcoming bio has not been approved by his estate.

“To artists, management & friends:,” Meyers wrote. “There is a writer doing a Mac Miller biography that some of you have been approached about or will be [in]. This book is not authorized/approved by Mac’s family or Estate. We are not participating and prefer you don’t either if you personally knew Malcolm.”

She did not include the writer’s name.

The MC, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, died in 2018 of an accidental drug overdose. His father, Mark McCormick, recently attended a public memorial for Mac in his hometown of Pittsburgh. While speaking to fans, Mark addressed the men accused of selling his son the lethal narcotics, saying, “So they finally caught the motherf—ker that sold him the drugs that killed him.”
